You know the feeling

The lights are off. The phone is down. And your brain is still holding meetings.

  • Exhausted, but wired.
  • Racing thoughts you cannot fire.
  • Stress that follows you into every decision the next morning.

Another self help app will not fix this. What works is a practice built for you, taught to you, and checked with you until it holds.

The practice

Not therapy. Not an app. A tradition, taught one to one.

Jewish tradition holds real, structured methods for quieting a mind that will not stop. Not imported trends, not borrowed mantras. Almost nobody teaches them one to one anymore. I still do.

01

Built for you, not a category

A personal practice matched to your mind, your schedule and your specific pressure points. An app hands you a recording and wishes you luck. A good trainer walks into the gym with you and stays until your form is right. This works the same way.

02

A tradition, not a trend

Not a technique invented last year. A tradition of Kabbalistic meditation, tailored in a private room to one person: you.

03

For people carrying real weight

Traders and founders use these methods to switch off at night and think clearly by day.

Rabbi Yaakov Shepherd

I have been teaching in Jerusalem since 2004, and Kabbalah at King David's Tomb since 2016. Somewhere in there I wrote more than twenty books on this material.

None of that is why people come to me. They come because they cannot switch off, and because the methods of our tradition work when someone teaches them to you properly, one person at a time.

I also serve as Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat HaMekubalim Nefesh HaChaim on Har Tzion, a registered nonprofit (no. 580628527). The yeshiva is a separate organisation. This private practice is offered by Shepherd's Ltd.

In their own words

From people I have taught.

One is a private client. The rest are students of mine. All in their own words and used with their permission. Nothing here is scripted or paraphrased.

“I think this work will make me more effective as a leader, as a businessman, as a father, as a husband… I have absolutely no doubt that doing this work on a daily basis would make a huge difference.”

“Something I’d recommend to others who are looking to connect with meditation, but do so in a way that is authentically rooted in Jewish thought and philosophy and Kabbalah.”

“This is the first time that I had an explanation on how to meditate. Maybe sometimes I did it on my own, but I did not understand what I was doing.”

How it works

Three steps, and the first one takes five minutes.

1

Apply

Ten questions, most of them one tap. Three ask for your own words. It comes straight to me.

2

I read it myself

If it looks like a fit, I write back to you personally to set a time. If it does not, I will tell you that too.

3

Your first session, 70 percent off

One on one. The first session is where you find out whether this is for you.

The application

Before we speak, I want to be sure we are a good fit.

I take on a small number of people at a time. These methods work very well for certain situations and not for others, and I would rather neither of us spend a first session discovering that. So tell me a little now. It comes straight to me, and if it is a fit I will write back myself to set a time.

05Any prior contact with Jewish practice or Kabbalah?“None at all” is a completely normal answer. It changes where we start, not whether this works.

10Sessions are paid work, with 70% off your first one. Where are you?I work best with people who are ready to start and do the practice. People who need a few months to think it over usually do not end up moving forward, and I would rather not waste your time.

Questions

Before you apply

Do I need to be religious, or know any Hebrew?

No. “None at all” is a completely normal answer on the application. It changes where we start, not whether this works.

Is this therapy?

No. It is not therapy and it is not an app. It is a tradition of Jewish meditation, taught to you one on one and built around your mind, your schedule and your pressure points.

How much time does it take?

Tell me honestly on the application. Some people give it about ten minutes a day, some twenty to thirty. I build the practice around the time you will really give it.

Where and how do sessions happen?

We settle the place and the format in our first conversation, so the application does not ask about it.

What does it cost?

Sessions are paid work. Your first session is 70 percent off, so you can find out whether this is for you before you commit to more.

What happens after I apply?

Your answers come straight to me and I read them myself. If it looks like a fit, I write back to set a time. If it does not, I will tell you that too.

I am not ready to apply. Where do I start?

Start tonight with the free 11pm Reset. It costs nothing, and you will know quickly whether this way of working speaks to you.
